The Traveling Piano Man
Lukas Koeninger
Let’s talk about Lukas

Born and raised in Austria, Boogie-Woogie pianist Lukas Koeninger discovered his passion for music at the age of 17 when he accidentally came across a box of old records. Without any musical background, he taught himself to sing and play the piano by listening to these vinyles.
With his move to southern France in 2015, he decided to realize his long-time dream and built his own traveling Boogie-Piano which at first opened up the way to a career as a street performer and soon led to bookings at renowned Festivals and in Jazz Clubs. Since 2017, he travels through parts of Europe and brings stomping rhythms and swinging melodies to his audiences.
In 2019, his first studio album 'My Plan B(oogie)!' was released and received a tip of the hat by non other than his lifelong musical hero, Mr. Jerry Lee Lewis. In spring 2021, his second studio album 'The Traveling Piano Man!' followed and was introduced to the public on Radio France Bleu Périgord.

Also in 2021, the monthly broadcasted Tiroler Leut' special on the Austrian TV station ORF II included a five-minute portrayal of him. His story was the subject of more than twenty newspaper articles and radio interviews.

In 2024, he published his first book which tells of his unusual life, it is titled: 'The Traveling Piano Man - My life as a busking musician!'. Since 2024, he has been hosting his own music festival called 'The Boogie Stomp', featuring international musicians on stage.

Judith Lewis, the widow of late Rock'n'Roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, personally invited Lukas Koeninger to perform multiple times in America. He was the only European musician to play at The Killer's monument inauguration ceremony in Ferriday, Louisiana. He was asked to return a few months later to perform at SiloSquare for the Jerry Lee Lewis Memorial Statue unveiling in Southaven, Tennessee and at the opening of 'The Lewis Ranch Experience' in Nesbit, Mississippi, which was the home of Jerry Lee Lewis for over 40 years. He again was the only European musician present.
